Last fall, StevensGouldPincus released the results of its first survey on social media use by PR and Public Affairs firms. The headline of an article of the survey’s findings in the Bulldog Reporter’s Daily Dog said it all: “Social Media Will Overtake Traditional Media as PR Tool of Choice Within Next Two Years, New Survey Posits: Results Show Major Shift in Use of Social Media by Comms Firms.”

Additionally, according to the survey, firms are using social media that reflect the public’s preferences and use of the same media:

Facebook – 31 percent
Twitter – 29 percent
LinkedIn – 18 percent
MySpace – 17 percent
YouTube – 14 percent
