A recent Time article, written by Christopher Matthews entitled “The Obamacare Start-Up Boom” astutely pointed out that Obamacare is being very favorably received by healthcare and technology entrepreneurs and investors. The Affordable Care Act (ACA) a.k.a. Obamacare, is shaking up the healthcare industry’s business model. There’s money to be made for companies that react quickly to the new model.

The article points out some innovative companies that are addressing the changing healthcare landscape, and many of them are mobile/digital related – indicating the shift towards mhealth and ehealth as our society continues to focus on the online and digital realms for finding and seeking out information.

The article lists three trends intensified by the new health law which include: reducing re-admissions, helping doctors follow up, and tracking patient information. As far as I’m concerned, these are all areas in which we could use improvement and innovation. This article provides insights into numerous companies making waves in the healthcare field and demonstrates that the ACA is forcing healthcare delivery into the digital/modern age.

What do you foresee resulting from this digitalized healthcare delivery system?
